Sources close to Johnson say that the scope of the injury was minor compared to the torn meniscus he sustained before 2011-2012 season and that a full recovery is expected.
The ‘Canes will sorely miss Johnson on the court and off it during their run in Washington. If the ‘Canes make it to Atlanta, it is likely Johnson will rejoin the team in a leadership role, but the University lists his timetable as uncertain.
In his absence, expect Tonye Jekiri to receive more minutes and the ‘Canes continuing to go small when the matchups dictate doing so. Marquette has two rather large centers, including 290-lb Devonte Gardner, which the ‘Canes will have to contend with on Thursday.
