Welcome To The U! - The 2014 Recruiting Trail Stays Hot

Just as the hoops game between Miami and Georgia Tech was about to tip off, Miami got its fifth 2014 football commitment. Click to find out who!

Legacy commits are a fan favorite for obvious reasons. The most recent additions would be Brandon Harris, Anthony Chickillo, and Ray Lewis III, among others. Tonight, Miami got yet another one with center Nick Linder, younger brother of current Canes offensive lineman Brandon Linder, pledging to Miami.

Check out some highlights:

Nick is 6'3" 270 lbs, and likely could add more to that between now and his first U-Tough program. There are those that say that Nick is better now than Brandon was at the same age, which is great news. Nick isn't currently rated by anyone, and as such registers a zero on 247Sports' composite rankings. That is sure to change, however. At any rate, any offensive line help is good offensive line help, as the majority of the current 2013 line will be gone after this year.

After committing, Nick spoke with Jon Bastian over at CaneInsider.com about his choice:

"I have a little biased because my brother goes there and I grew up a Miami fan," Linder said. "My brother just wanted what's best for me and it's not like he was trying to pressure me or anything. It's the right decision for me and the right place for me. They are 30 miles away from my doorstep and I've always been a Hurricanes fan. [Last season] I saw a great team, of course they had struggles with a couple games, but I'm very excited for this year."

Now that he's a "solid Canes commit," he plans to recruit for Miami starting with his own team. "I'm definitely going to try and get some of my friends from St. Thomas and do a package deal."

He has a 4.1 GPA and can play any position along the offensive line, which gives the Canes a wealth of options once he arrives on campus.
