Larrañaga to Deliver Speech at UM Commencement

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami men’s basketball coach Jim Larrañaga will offer advice to graduating students and serve as the Commencement speaker for the College of Arts and Sciences and the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science combined ceremony on Friday, May 10 at 5 p.m.

"It is both an honor and a privilege to be asked to speak at the University commencement," said Larrañaga. "I am very proud to be a part of a great academic institution and look forward to sharing my thoughts with the graduating class of 2013."

More than 3,300 University of Miami students will receive newly minted degrees at six commencement ceremonies from May 9 to 11 at BankUnited Center on the Coral Gables campus. During the ceremonies, which mark the beginning of a new chapter in the lives of students, graduates from all of UM’s schools and colleges will be recognized by name and will walk across the stage to be congratulated by President Donna E. Shalala and their dean.
