All I can say is "wow." Glad the Diamond Canes went into the NCAA Tourney today with one thing in mind: dominate. That's exactly what they did. Let's get going..
Here's a brief breakdown of the game by the Sun Sentinel beat writer Michael Casagrande.. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/um-hurricanes/sfl-miami-beats-oklahoma-state-in-ncaa-baseball-regional-20130531,0,4428650.story
In this article Barry Jackson lays out what many of us have said for awhile.. "STOP PLAYING RIDICULOUS OUT OF CONFERENCE GAMES EVERY YEAR." Yes, one per year is okay but not ND AND KSU in the same season (I understand this is set years in advanced but still). As the article points out and as we've said previously.. Play one tough opponent, two smaller conference opponents (Conference USA, Sun Belt, etc.) and then a 1AA. Even with the playoff taking into account Strength of Schedule, it's not worth making it too hard on yourself year in and year out as UM has the last few years (thanks Hocutt -_-).. http://miamiherald.typepad.com/sports-buzz/2013/05/heat-game-5-postscripts-um-changes-schedule-approach-books-teams-dolphins-notes.html
I understand this argument to move our Football playing Canes to Marlins Park but I think this would make us more of a joke then we are now when it comes to attendance at Sun Life/Landshark/Robbie Stadium. I think the seating would make it LESS intimate then our current location and it would just make UM seem like they're the adopted step child of college football that doesn't have their own place to go home to. Yea, I get SLS isn't truly UM's but now that the Marlins are gone, is it really THAT bad that they share a stadium with the phins? http://www.lostlettermen.com/why-the-u-should-switch-to-marlins-park/
Alright guys, have a safe Friday and of course.. Stay classy Canes Fans.
