McDermott out for Savannah State

Kevin Liles-US PRESSWIRE

Miami's honorable mention ALL ACC C to miss Saturday Night's contest.

Miami's offensive line will have a new starter at C for the first time in a long time. RS JR Shane McDermott is listed as "out" on UM's injury report for this week, released today.

We're not sure when the injury, listed as a lower extremity injury, was sustained. We can only assume in practice the past few days, as McDermott was listed as a starter on the team's depth chart released on 9/15.

Look for 6-5 319 pound SR Jared Wheeler to start in his place.   Hopefully the injury is not serious and McDermott can return before the schedule picks back up. McDermott is one of the 'Canes best offensive lineman and a leader on the offense.

We will provide more information as we learn it on the specifics and extent of the injury. Stay tuned.

The rest of the report contains no surprises (courtesy UM) :
