The Hurricanes picked up their first ACC win of the season and third win a row behind ace Chris Diaz. Diaz who picked up his fourth win of the season was dominant once again as the left handed junior pitched seven and one third innings while only allowing the Eagles two runs on five hits and striking out seven.
Brandon Lopez was the offensive star of the game for the Hurricanes by driving in four of the Hurricanes six runs. Lopez got the action started in the bottom of the second with a two run triple that drove in Willie Abreu who had reached on a single and Garrett Kennedy who had reached on a walk. The Boston College Eagles responded in the top of the third by an RBI single from Gabriel Hernandez which cut the Canes lead in half to 2-1.
The Canes struck again in the bottom of the fourth as Garrett Kennedy doubled down the right field line for his sixth RBI of the season driving in Zack Collins who had reached on a single making it 3-1. In the bottom of the sixth Boston College starter John Gorman (2-2) left the game with a runner on first for Boston College reliever Jesse Adams. Garrett Kennedy the first batter to face Adams drew a walk, with Brandon Lopez up a wild pitch put runners on second and third, then on a full count pitch Lopez hit a single to center field driving in both runs making it 5-1.
Gabriel Hernandez picked up his second RBI of the game for Boston College in the top of the seventh cutting the lead to 5-2 but that would be all the Eagles would muster the rest of the night. In the bottom of the seventh freshman Willie Abreu added an insurance run for the Hurricanes driving in Alexander Hernandez making it 6-2. AJ Salcines took the mound in the eighth inning to help finish the inning for Chris Diaz. Then, Adam Sargent came in to pitch the ninth and recorded his first save of the season.
