Canes Pick Up Two More 2012 Commits

(via ereck68flowers)

Al Golden has received two more oral commitments for the 2012 recruiting class. The most recent is American High CB Larry Hope, who was named Defensive Back MVP at Golden's summer camp last week, which led to a verbal offer from the Canes that Hope quickly pounced on. Hope only had offers from low-level BCS programs as well as a few mid-majors, so the lesson here is that dreams really do come true! Or, you can do anything if you put your mind to it. Or whatever. In any event, Hope joins A.J. Leggett as 2012 DB commitments who will likely be able to earn immediate playing time when they join the team. On an unrelated note— and I'm breaking a self-imposed rule here to never make comparisons to "The Wire"— Hope looks a bit like D'Angelo Barksdale. Moving on...

The second commit is Norland offensive tackle Ereck Flowers, who joins teammates Randy "Duke" Johnson and Keith Brown in this class. Flowers had offers from various big-time D1 programs and should be a centerpiece of the next wave of Canes offensive linemen. He's the first commit from that position, and that's coming off a year where Miami concentrated its recruiting efforts elsewhere.
