The Canes baseball team will be taking on the Jacksonville Dolphins (yes, this is indeed a real team) at 12 pm EST in the first game of the 2011 Gainesville Regional. Mid-week starter Steven Ewing will take the hill for the Canes, which is not exactly unusual for opening match ups of this nature. The Dolphins (36-22, 19-11) were 2-6 against ranked opponents this season, though one of those two wins was a Tuesday night drubbing of the Gators in Gainseville on May 17. They are a team that is heavy on hitting and light on pitching, with seven starters batting over .300 but not one pitcher with an ERA under 3.70. Relevant links below.
