The super athletic combo guard who had missed several games to work on academic issues will now move on.

From the Athletic Department:

"Redshirt freshman guard Bishop Daniels has left the University of Miami men’s basketball program and the University, Coach Jim Larranaga announced Friday afternoon."

Daniels, who redshirted his freshman year, averaged 5.0 points, 2.0 steals and 1.0 assists in three games this season.

Earlier in the week, Larranaga had announced that Daniels had returned to practice.

Our take: This is very disappointing news. Daniels showed promise in limited playing time this year. His speed and athleticism are off the charts. With so many players graduating this year, and visions of a Shane Larkin/Daniels backcourt next year now gone, there is little positive spin. Miami also lost a terrific prospect in Melvin Johnson prior to the season (now at VCU) under similar circumstances. They do have 2 outstanding guard prospects in Deandre Burnett and Davon Reed signed to LOIs for next year, so that does slightly soften the blow. We wish Bishop the best of luck wherever he ends up.

More details to come as we learn them.
