Welcome To The U: JUCO LB Devante Bond Commits To The Canes

Over the weekend, the Canes picked up a recruitment from an elite quarterback hunter.

If you watched the Hurricanes this season, you know well that they needed a pass rush in the worst way. While fixing that sort of thing starts up front with the defensive line, the Canes picked up a fantastic pass rusher in the form of JUCO LB Devante Bond. Bond is a California kid who reported quite a few offers, including Nebraska and Oklahoma. Golden and his minions were after Bond hard, and after a visit to campus and a follow up in-home, Bond decided that Coral Gables was the right place for him:

"It was the right place, it was exactly where I wanted to be. Everything was just right, the tradition there its "The U", you can’t get better than that."

Bond spoke with Miami coaches yesterday and said the relationship between them was a key part in his commitment.

"I have a great relationship with both the coaches, I have been talking to coach Franklin for three months now so, it was just great and I’m really excited."

When asked about his plans to visit a few other schools, Bond elaborated on the state of his commitment to Miami:

"I’m done. I’m not going to take them. I’m pretty much done."

When asked for a percentage of commitment, Bond was quick to answer.

"A hundred percent, I’m committed. I’m ready, flags are going to be posted on the house. We are ready."
