How the Teams are Rated

The rankings of each team are based on weekly performances as well as their overall results from the current season. A team may have more talent than another on the list but if they're not getting wins and putting up solid statistics, they won't be rated higher.

1 - FSU 5-0 (3-0), Last Weeks Rank - 1

Week 7: Bye Week

Week 8: @ Clemson, 8 p.m., ABC

Comments from Week 7:

Want to know what FSU does during their off week? Check it out in the link.

The Noles are going to have a clash of the titans type matchup against the Tigers this weekend and this game will probably go a long way in settling who the best team in the ACC is, at least out of the Atlantic Division that is.

2 - University of Miami 5-0, (1-0), Last Weeks Rank - 2

Week 7: Bye Week

Week 8 Opponent: @ UNC Thursday night, 7:30 p.m., ESPN

Comments from Week 7:

Coach Golden is again saying all the right things during the bye week and the Canes head into this crucial road game in conference against a reeling UNC team that is both very dangerous and very desperate for a win. Can the Canes show their mettle and win on the road? We'll have to see because if they do, UNC's season is essentially over which would be very disappointing for a team with aspirations on being in the ACC Championship game this season.

3 - University of Florida 4-2, (3-1), Last Weeks Rank - 3

Week 7 Opponent: 17 - 6 Loss @ LSU

Week 8 Opponent: @ Missouri, 12:21 p.m. (?), ESPN3

Comments from Week 7:

Another tough battle for the Gators as they came up short against the LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge. You really have to start wondering if the injuries are starting to take their toll on Florida. Their defense has really held their own against opponents and probably will continue to do so but their offense lost another important piece in running back Matt Jones.

Florida's offense is predicated on a run first, throw second style. That will be put to the test as they travel to Missouri who is very much a dink and dunk offense based on speed and spread style plays (a la a Clemson style offensive pacing and passing attack). Will they be able to keep up in the hostile environment?

4 - University of Central Florida 4-1, (1-0), Last Weeks Rank - 4

Week 7: Bye Week

Week 8 Opponent: @ Louisville, Friday at 8 p.m., ESPN

Comments from Week 7:

All was quiet on the Central Florida front this week as they prepare for their biggest game in arguably the last 10 years when they travel to Louisville on Friday. It's a shame that the FSU-Clemson game was scheduled during this week because this could be the marque game of the week. Instead I get the feeling that this game is almost "relegated" in a sense to Friday.

So be it. The Knights will come out firing on all cylinders to see if they can knock off the giant in their path. By Friday around midnight we'll know if Louisville is still a true BCS contender or just another team that has an outside shot of a January Bowl Game.

5 - South Florida 2-4 (2-0), Last Weeks Rank - 7

Week 7 opponent: 13 - 10 Win @ UCONN

Week 8 Opponent: Bye Week

Comments from Week 7:

I don't really know where to go with this.. USF didn't score an offensive touchdown yet won the game verse UCONN. Due to the fact that they've beaten two (very bad) BCS level teams I therefore put them at 5 in our list ahead of FIU and a suddenly fun to watch FAU Owls team.

I guess it's like being the prettiest ugly girl?

6 - Florida Atlantic 2-5, (1-4), Last Weeks Rank - 5

Week 7 Opponent: 24 - 23 Loss to Marshall

Week 8 Opponent: Bye Week

Comments from Week 7:

You know... I really do feel bad for FAU.. It seems every week they find new ways to lose. Granted, they aren't THAT talented but they seem to be in almost every game to the end this last month or so and are 1-3 in that span. The fact that they haven't packed their bags and mailed in the season is a testament to their Coach Carl Pelini. In their latest installment of "how to lose 101" the Owls gave up a game winning 41 yard field goal with no time left t. They had held the lead in the game from the 12:56 mark in the second quarter but when it mattered most, they just couldn't hold back the Thundering Heard.

After the heart wrenching loss they now have a bye week to rest up and see what they can possibly do against a very talented and up and coming team in the Auburn Tigers. Get your game face on Owls. It could be a bumpy few weeks.

7 - Florida International 1-5 (1-1), Last Weeks Rank - 6

Week 7 Opponent: 27 - 24 Loss to UAB

Week 8 Opponent: Louisiana Tech, 6 p.m.

Week 7 Comments:

Welp, another game, another loss for the Golden Panthers. Instead of a blowout though they suffered a late field goal with 10 seconds left by the UAB Blazers to seal their fate.

Next week they get to continue their home stand by hosting Louisiana Tech. We'll see if they can muster up a fight against the high powered offense of the Bulldogs.
