GREENSBORO, N.C. – Miami Hurricanes junior Ladarius Gunter was named Atlantic Coast Conference Specialist of the Week, the league announced Monday. It is Gunter’s second weekly award and Miami’s seventh of the season.
Gunter found the end zone for the second consecutive game in Miami’s 27-23 road win Thursday at North Carolina. He snagged an Artie Burns blocked field goal and returned it 67 yards for a touchdown. Gunter was the first Miami Hurricane to return a blocked field goal for a score since Devin Hester against the Florida Gators in the 2004 Chick-fil-A Bowl.
Earlier this month, Gunter was named ACC Defensive Back of the Week after recording a pick-6 in Miami’s win Oct. 5 vs. Georgia Tech.
No. 7 Miami (6-0, 2-0 ACC) will look for their first 7-0 start since the 2003 season when the Hurricanes host Wake Forest (4-3, 2-2 ACC) at noon Oct. 26 on ESPNU. Fewer than 7,000 tickets remain for Miami’s Oct. 26 home game vs. Wake Forest, which is also UM Employee Day.
To purchase tickets, fans can order online at www.canestix.com, visit the UM Ticket Office at BankUnited Center (M-F, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.) or call 1-800-GO-CANES.
