GREENSBORO, N.C. – Miami Hurricanes sophomore DB Tracy Howard was named Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Defensive Back of the Week, the league announced Monday. It is Howard’s first weekly honor of his career.
Howard is the eighth different player to earn an ACC weekly honor this season. He shared the honor with Syracuse sophomore Durell Eskridge.
Despite recording only one tackle in Miami’s 45-26 win over Virginia, Howard made the biggest play of the game – on the game’s first snap. Howard picked off a Virginia pass on a bubble screen and returned it 19 yards for a touchdown. It was Howard’s team-leading fourth interception of the season and the first of three Miami’s defensive unit registered against the Cavaliers on Saturday.
Miami (8-3, 4-3 ACC) closes its regular-season slate Friday at Pitt (6-5, 3-4 ACC). Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC. Miami leads the all-time series with Pitt 22-9-1, winning the last seven meetings. Friday will be the first series meeting since 2010 and first as conference foes since 2003.
