Report: Duke Johnson to Miss the Rest of the Season

In a report unconfirmed by the University of Miami, Duke Johnson's mother posted on Facebook that the sophomore running back, who suffered an ankle injury in the 41-14 loss at Florida State Saturday night, will miss the balance of the season with the injury. Further tests will be taken when he and the team return from Tallahassee Sunday morning.

Cassandra Prophet-Mitchell, Duke Johnson's mother, has confirmed through social media that Duke will be missing the rest of the regular season with the injury that he sustained against Florida State.  Johnson suffered a lower extremity injury and will be evaluated further when the team lands back in Miami,

"Unfortunately Duke is out for the rest of the season," Prophet-Mitchell wrote on Facebook. Many condolences followed.

The school has not confirmed this report and Al Golden said that further tests need to be performed before giving any further information.

Golden is scheduled to address the media on Sunday afternoon.

*****Update

The Miami Herald is also reporting Johnson's injury as a broken right ankle, and that he will have surgery on it this week.

Announced during head coach Al Golden's day-after teleconference earlier this evening:

Per Head Athletic Trainer Vinny Scavo, Miami sophomore RB Duke Johnson fractured his right ankle Saturday night at Florida State. He will undergo surgery this week and will miss the remainder of the season.
