Canes Continue To Work The JUCO Ranks, Land DT Julio Derosier

Miami's defensive line just got a bit of help for the 2013 season, adding JUCO DT Julio Derosier out of California.

The JUCO ranks are nothing at all to scoff at, especially when they can provide you with game ready talent. While they may not be able to play the full slate of years that a normal recruit would, they more than make up for that by being able to come in and immediately contribute.

Julio Derosier is no exception. After spending a year at the College of the Sequoia, Derosier has spurned Washington and decided to play closer to his hometown of Homestead, FL. After being granted a medical red shirt, he will have three years to play.

Derosier is a big man, standing 6'6" and weighing in at 280. That's a bit lean for a guy listed as a DT, although he does think that he will be able to put on the weight necessary to move inside. His length could serve him well at the position, as he would be able to get his hands up to clog passing lanes, and would have the reach to snag a passing running back or QB.

One thing is for certain, Golden is most definitely not playing around with his defensive line recruiting this time through. And, if you ask me, landing Derosier counts as another South Florida commit, I don't care where he was funneled through to get here.

Welcome To The U, Julio!
