The huge, major, gigantic recruiting weekend of Al Golden's final football camp of the summer is over, but the commitments just keep rolling in. Late on Monday night this tweet hit twitter:
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-partner="tweetdeck"><p>Congrats to Miami Northwestern 6'2 185 DB/WR Ryan Mayes on committing to the University Of Miami <a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23BullPride&src=hash">#BullPride</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23BullNation&src=hash">#BullNation</a></p>— O/C&WR GURU G.U.M.P (@COACH_T_Y) <a href="https://twitter.com/COACH_T_Y/statuses/349359352940994560">June 25, 2013</a></blockquote>
Obviously with as much recruiting action as has been going on recently, we've all learned to wait for the Bat Signal to make it official. Well, we didn't have to wait long:
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-partner="tweetdeck"><p>Was supposed to be tomorrow but, oh well. <a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23WelcomeToTheU&src=hash">#WelcomeToTheU</a></p>— Brennan Carroll (@brennanpcarroll) <a href="https://twitter.com/brennanpcarroll/statuses/349373336872157185">June 25, 2013</a></blockquote>
So, just like that, Al Golden has added a big corner (6'2") to an already impressive 2014 class. Mayes, a transfer to Miami Northwestern from Dr. Krop, might not be a highly touted recruit, but we've seen the coaches go away from recruiting rankings to pull in the talent they think fits the scheme. It's obvious Mayes is just such a player.
