Canes Land DT Courtel Jenkins Out Of New Jersey

On Thursday morning, the Canes went north and picked up a commitment from defensive tackle Courtel Jenkins.

There you go, Canes fans. You have another DT. Golden worked his northern connections and pulled in consensus three star DT Courtel Jenkins.

Jenkins had an offer from Pitt late last year, but things cooled off for him. After a transfer to a different high school, and a lot of work, Jenkins is again back on the rise. Until Miami came along, Pitt was his only main offer, and once that changed, it looks like Jenkins decided he couldn't wait.

Jenkins is a big kid, standing 6'3" and weighing in at 310 pounds. While he only listed the one offer, he had begun garnering interest from a list of big time programs. He hits like a truck, shows good speed off the line, and is a big body to clog up the middle. He is looked at as a bit of a project, but with growth in this final year, he could turn in to a good one for Miami. There's no doubt the Canes are still looking to land that big name, big time DT, but this is a good pickup for them regardless.

WELCOME TO THE U, COURTEL!
