How does a combination of Tim Duncan, Zach Randolph and Al Horford sound? Pretty terrifying, right?
Well, that’s exactly what class of 2015 Center Jessie Govan sees himself as.
"I’m trying to take all three of their games and kind of mold it in to my own thing", Govan told State of the U.
There’s a lot to like about the 6’10", 263 pound prospect. "I’m mainly a low post player, but I can step out and hit the jump shot, too. I also like to rebound, and I play good defense". Asked what he’s trying to improve on, Govan replied "Just staying out of foul trouble while also being aggressive".
Even though his junior year hasn’t even begun, Govan is already getting interest from several high profile basketball programs, Miami included. "I currently have 6 offers, from Miami, Cincinnati, Arizona, Connecticut, Fordham and Virginia, and I’m also receiving interest from Florida, Notre Dame and Stanford".
Getting offered by Miami is a big deal to Govan. "It’s a huge honor. Miami’s a great school, so just to have them offer period is a great feeling". I also asked Govan what it was in particular he liked about Miami, to which he replied "They’re good every year, they play in a great conference, they have a winning tradition, and Coach L is a great coach that really uses his big men well."
Govan, who is rated as the #28 overall player in the class of 2015 by ESPN, plans to make a final decision during his senior season.
