Rising Wing has Canes Hoops in His Top 6

This 4 star small forward cut his list last night and told SOTU that Miami made his top 6. This elite level talent is known for being a tenacious defender and attacking the rim. Find out what he told us.

We had the chance to speak with Northside Christian Academy (NC), forward James Demery last evening. Demery's stock has been rising and is rated 4 stars on ESPN and Scout currently. He also plays with Team Charlotte on the AAU circuit which is coached by former NBA and UNC star Jeff McInnis. Demery's High School team won the state championship and was a key contributor to their success this past year.

When we asked him about his game he said his strengths were "I feel like I'm great on defense, getting to the rim, crashing the boards and going after loose balls." While he feels like he needs to "work on getting a more consistent jump shot, that would improve my game a lot"

He attributes his big leap in the rankings and reputation this year to hard work and said its "a blessing to have this opportunity"

He told us that Miami is in his top 6 schools along with Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Creighton and St. Josephs. As to why he likes Miami Demery said " When I talk to Coach L he tells me how much they'd love to have me and what a great program and school it is." James told us he hasn't set up any visits yet but probably will take some after August. As to what he's looking for in his college choice? "The right coaching staff."

Demery hopes to make his decision this fall.
