College football season finally underway, SOTU proceeds with our weekly Atlantic Coast Conference power rankings. Who can prove to be a top tier team in a conference of evenly matched opponents that trade victories each year? Which teams are making strides towards the illustrious ACCCG? How many C's is too many C's? All these questions and more will be answered with our evaluation of the conference power rankings.

1st - The ACC Gods thank Clemson for not ‘Clemsoning'.

Clemson Tigers - 1-0 (ACC 0-0)

Previous: vs. Georgia Bulldogs; Clemson WIN 38-35

Next Opponent: vs. South Carolina State Bulldogs

Prediction: Clemson 45-7

Bad blood makes for beautiful football.

Ushering in the first ACC accomplishment of the season, Clemson took down another member of the almighty SEC. How far this victory propels the Tigers in the polls remains to be seen. With more SEC matchups to come and an ACC schedule that always warrants concern, Clemson has aligned themselves for a run at the National Championship, they just have to survive the journey.

2nd - Florida St. Seminoles - 1-0 (ACC 1-0)

Previous: @ Pittsburgh; Seminoles WIN 41-13

Next Opponent: Bye

Jameis Winston looked good, but the Pitt defense looked atrocious.

Florida State showed more than enough to maintain the ranks of 2nd place for now. If this continues it'll make for good ratings when they travel to Death Valley and their annual matchup with Miami.

3rd - Miami Hurricanes - 1-0 (ACC 0-0)

Previous: vs. Florida Atlantic Owls; Miami WIN 34-6

Next Opponent: Florida Gators (1-0)

Prediction: Miami 30-24

4th - North Carolina Tar Heels - 0-1 (ACC 0-0)

Previous: @ South Carolina Gamecocks; North Carolina LOSS 27-10

Next Opponent: vs. Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders (1-0)

Prediction: North Carolina 38-14

5th - Virginia Tech Hokies - 0-1 (ACC 0-0)

Previous: vs. Alabama Crimson Tide (Chick-Fil-A Kickoff); Virginia Tech LOSS 35-10

Next Opponent: 9/7 vs. Western Carolina Catamounts (0-1)

Prediction: Virginia Tech 38-3

While Logan Thomas appeared inept against the 1st team in the nation, the Hokie defense showed spurts of consistency throughout the game. For Virginia Tech to right the ship and have success this season it looks as if the defense will be tasked with holding down the fort until the offense can put things together.

6th - Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets - 1-0 (ACC 0-0)

Previous: vs. Elon; Yellow Jackets WIN 70-0

Next Opponent: Bye

7th - Syracuse Orange - 0-1 (ACC 0-0)

Previous: vs. Penn St. Nittany Lions (MetLife Stadium); Syracuse LOSS 17-23

Next Opponent: 9/7 @ Northwestern Wildcats (1-0)

Prediction: Northwestern 27-21

8th - Maryland Terrapins - 1-0 (ACC 0-0)

8/31 vs. Florida International University; Maryland WIN 43-10

Next Opponent: 9/7 vs. Old Dominion Monarchs (0-1)

Prediction: Maryland 45-7

9th - Pittsburgh Panthers - 0-1 (ACC 0-1)

Previous: vs. Florida State; Pitt LOSS 41-13

Next Opponent: Bye

Sorry Pitt, welcome to the ACC.

10th - Wake Forest Demon Deacons - 1-0 (ACC 0-0)

Previous: vs. Presbyterian; Wake Forest WIN 31-7

Next Opponent: 9/6 @ Boston College (1-0)

Prediction: Demon Deacons 31-21

11th - Virginia Cavaliers - 1-0 (ACC 0-0)

8/31 vs. BYU Cougars; Cavalier WIN 19-16

Next Opponent: 9/7 vs. Oregon Ducks (1-0)

Prediction: Oregon 63-21

12th - Duke Blue Devils - 1-0 (ACC 0-0)

Previous: vs. North Carolina Central; Duke WIN 45-0

Next Opponent: 9/7 @ Memphis Tigers (0-0)

Prediction: Duke 35-17

13th - N.C. State Wolfpack - 1-0 (ACC 0-0)

8/31 vs. Louisiana Tech; Wolfpack WIN 40-14

Next Opponent: 9/7 vs. Richmond Spiders (1-0)

Prediction: N.C. State 35-17

Huge loss for the Wolfpack when starting Quarterback Brandon Mitchell went down with a left foot fracture in Saturday's victory, Mitchell will be out for 4-6 weeks.

14th - Boston College Eagles - 1-0 (ACC 0-0)

8/31 vs. Villanova; Boston College WIN 24-14

Next Opponent: 9/6 vs. Wake Forest (1-0)

Prediction: Wake Forest 31-21
