Both Jim Larranaga and Al Golden (especially Al Golden) have been waiting with anticipation to see if Derrick Griffin would qualify.
Well the news today was not good
Two-sport, four-star WR/power forward Derrick Griffin, a UM commit who didn't qualify academically, tweeted he's headed to junior college.

Here's hoping the incredibly talented power forward/tight end/wide receiver can find his way to Coral Gables in a few years.
Another shared interest of Coach L and AG is Corn Elder, the point guard/running back/kick off returner. Well he too got some bad news today:
No shock here, but UM source says freshman Corn Elder (meniscus tear) will not play hoops at all this year. Hoops debut in 2014-15. #Canes

Elder will start his hoops career next season, where he will get a shot to compete against talented guards like Angel Rodriguez and Jaquan Newton, not to mention Manu LeComte.
Here's hoping he has a speedy recovery.
