Weekend Recap - January 24th official visits and Junior Day

This weekend saw both an Official Visit group AND the first big Junior Day for the Canes. Let's recap what happened, shall we?

Lots and lots to recap. Let's jump right in

Visitors

We know that Malik Rosier and Tavon Ross were on campus for their official visits. Early returns suggest that things went well with both players. In an interview with Canesport.com, Ross said his visit "went pretty well" and that he's "going to know more" once he visits Missouri next week. He also said that Miami made up "a little bit" of ground on Missouri, but that doesn't sound like the gap has closed much. While his highlight tape is SICK and the thought of him coming to Miami was nice, it's looking more and more like he won't be flipping to #TheU.

Beyond those official visits, and maybe even above them, was the news that 5-star RB Bo Scarborough (an Alabama commit) showed up late Saturday night on an unofficial visit. He's an Alabama native, and knows Rosier on some level. Rosier told Canesport.com that Scarborough is "supposed to be coming back again next weekend". Scarborough is 90-95% committed to Alabama, but if he comes back for an Official Visit next weekend, then things COULD possibly change. Key word there: Could.

Junior Day

Miami has a unique Junior Day advantage: the top players from South Florida are all a car ride away, and that collection of talent is seldom seen at Junior Days around the country. Here's a partial list of the guys who were on campus for Junior Day:

The recruits seemed to have a great time at junior day. Here are some selected tweets from the guys who visited.

New Offers
As you saw in the tweets above, there were more than a couple new offers leading up to and during, this weekend. Most notably were the offers given to Tevon Coney, Jordan Cronkite, and Tarvarus McFadden. Miami fans had been screaming for Cronkite and McFadden to get offers for a while, and after his junior season and 7-on-7 all star team tryout, I've been one of the loudest Tevon Coney supporters around. All 3 figure to be 4 or 5 star players, and would be a welcomed addition to the Hurricanes roster. We're far away from that point, however.

The Commitment
Last but not least, Al Golden and company got their 3rd commitment for the 2015 recruiting class during Sunday's Junior Day extravagnaza.

Flanagan WR Emonee Spence received the UM offer he wanted, and committed on the spot. Spence, a 6'3" 185lb athlete from Pembroke Pines, FL, gives Miami a tall receiver with good hands and decent athleticism. He joins Charles Perry and Kevin Feder as 2015 commitments. It's not even to NSD 2014 yet, so obviously a lot can happen until they're due to sign. But, getting commitments, even a year in advance, is exciting to me.

That's the recap of the weekend. What say you, Canes fans?
