Day 3 or 4 of the saga, depending on when you actually believe that Al Golden became a viable candidate for the Penn State job.
A major chip appears to have fallen in place with Texas' hiring of Louisville's Charlie Strong.

Of course, as we have learned the past few days, nothing is certain until it is certain.
(We at SOTU promise not to report anything as facts until we KNOW)
If in fact Strong takes the job in Austin, it would mean there is one less landing spot for coveted Vanderbilt HC James Franklin.
Franklin's Commodores are in action today in the BBVA Compass Bowl Vs Houston. He is then expected to meet with PSU official on Sunday.
Golden is allegedly meeting with them today:

Which was shortly followed by:

The drama continues.........
We will keep you updated as we learn more.
At this stage of the game, it is best to wait until either:
A) Golden confirms he is taking the job
B) UM officials confirm he is taking the job or
C) Penn State officials confirm he is taking the job and post a 10x20 glossy of his signature on a contract all over the web.
As of 10:45 AM we believe AG is meeting with PSU. It would be unexpected that they offer him before meeting with Franklin, but you never know, as Al can really sell a room.
Update, 7:30 PM
We (Miami Herald) have reached UM President Donna Shalala by email. Short & sweet re. Al Golden: "We don’t know anything yet.’’

If Shalala does not know, no one does!
Stay tuned.....
