The rumors about Al Golden's status as Miami coach have been rampant over the last few days. Rumors really started taking off after former Penn State coach Bill O'Brien decided to leave Happy Valley to become the next coach for the NFL's Houston Texans.

After O'Brien's departure, multiple reports surfaced that Golden, a Penn State Alum, was at the top of the wish list for the Head Coaching position. Soon, reports came that an offer was made.

After the offer was extended, the Penn State search committee made their way to South Florida to meet with Golden face to face.

After that meeting, we waited. And waited. And waited. And then, reports started to come out that Al Golden would be staying at Miami

And then official confirmation of this was given from the University of Miami Athletic Department:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-partner="tweetdeck"><p>Official statement from <a href="https://twitter.com/GoldenAl">@GoldenAl</a>: <a href="http://t.co/tAJREEC5zz">http://t.co/tAJREEC5zz</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23Canes&amp;src=hash">#Canes</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23IStandWithTheU&amp;src=hash">#IStandWithTheU</a> <a href="http://t.co/BixTblEGkj">pic.twitter.com/BixTblEGkj</a></p>&mdash; Hurricanes Football (@MiamiHurricanes) <a href="https://twitter.com/MiamiHurricanes/statuses/419933070725091328">January 5, 2014</a></blockquote>

The statement reads, in part:

While I am flattered that our progress at The U during an extremely difficult period of time is recognized, I am also appreciative of just what we have here at UM and I am not a candidate for another position."

For a program in need of stability, this is huge news.

Al Golden remains the Head Coach at The U!

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE U!

FULL SPEED AHEAD!
