As I watched Angel Rodriguez dribble his man down with an almost hypnotic rhythm just before crossing to his left and knocking down a three point bomb to put UM in the lead in the final moments of their monumental road upset of Florida, one word came to mind.
Assassin.
Moments later when he stepped in front of a Gator drive to seal things with a charge, the word leader popped into my head.
After watching him take apart team after team in Charleston this past weekend, with daring drives, precise passes, and intense on the ball pressure, another description now fits the UM PG:
ACC Player of the Week.
The league announced today that junior guard was its' player of the week for 11/16-11/23.
No small accomplishment, considering some of the other heavy hitters that make their home in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Congrats to Angel Rodriguez!
The Numbers:
For the week, Rodriguez averaged 16.8 points, 5.3 assists, 3.8 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 1.3 blocks per game. He hit 45.8 percent from the field, including 45.5 percent from three, and 76.5 percent from the line.
