Hollywood (Fla.) Flanagan High School WR Emonee Spence (6'3/185) committed to the University of Miami late last month. While commuting the 45 minutes it takes to get to Coral Gables, he never thought he would leave there with an offer, let alone a Miami commit.
"I was just shocked," Spence said. "I was just surprised like my heart was pounding, and I was kind of nervous. After I toured around the campus, I got used to it and I committed."
The wide-out also holds offers from Cincinnati and Purdue. Georgia and Auburn are also recruiting him, and will possibly offer him in the near future. If those schools do offer, he will probably visit them during the summer months.
"I'm still going to take visits, because my mom is telling me to still go on visits to other schools to see if I like it," Spence said. "Right now, I think it's like 85 percent that I'm going to end up signing there."
Although Spence is thrilled with his current situation, he is not going to let complacency affect him. He currently runs track for his school, and he also goes to daily workouts at Elevate Training & Fitness in Hollywood, Fla.
Not only is he diligently working to be a better football player, he is also working towards getting a GPA that is well above the 3.0 mark.
Last season, he recorded 43 catches for over 700 yards with 12 touchdowns. Next season he hopes to be a more polished receiver and weigh around 200 pounds. One thing that surely will help is playing with the South Florida Express 7-on-7 team. This Spring he hopes to better his game by playing against some of the most talented defensive backs in the country.
