It's no secret that Coach L and staff would like to use their final scholarship on a graduate transfer, who would be eligible immediately.
Additionally, with next year's roster already guard heavy, they want a big in the worst way.
Someone with the physicality to help Tonye Jekiri do the dirty work would compliment highly skilled JUCO transfer Ivan Cruz Uceda nicely, and allow freshman Omar Sherman the luxury to come along slowly.
Well a few candidates to fill the role have emerged:
Temple transfer Anthony Lee's list continues to expand. He's heard from Louisville, Ohio State, Florida, FSU, USC, Miami, Pitt, NC State.— Jeff Goodman (@GoodmanESPN) March 18, 2014
With a list like that, it's hard to see Lee ending up in Coral Gables.
But SOTU Hoops Consigliere Josh Frank gives UM a non zero chance,
"According to what I can find, he is from Maryland, but he played he played high school/prep/AAU ball in Orlando (Eustis/West Oaks/Nike Team Florida), so I imagine that we have some connections with those programs. Additionally, according to Rivals, he was offered by this staff in 2010 when they were at George Mason (it also lists Miami interest, though no offer). Following up on that, we are apparently on him hard - Coach L and "another coach" (probably Chris Caputo) were in Philadelphia to see Ja'Quan Newton's state playoff semifinal, and according to Twitter, have already met with Lee on Temple's campus."
So stay tuned on Lee.
In the meantime, perhaps a more realistic target has also emerged.
Latest 5th-year transfer to blow up is Tennessee State 6-8 forward MJ Rhett. Averaged 11 and 9 last season. Check out this list- per Rhett.— Jeff Goodman (@GoodmanESPN) March 19, 2014

Some Rhett Highlights (FYI these are a year old, so may not show his full development):
Stay tuned for more updates as we hear them.
