Akpejiori to give Gridiron a shot?

Miami Hoops Big Man spotted at 'Canes Spring Football Practice.

Michael Shroyer-USA TODAY Sports

Inside the U.com reported today that recently graduated hoops player Raphael Akpejiori attended 'Canes football practice today, and is considering joining the team as a tight end.

Our Take: This would make for a great story. "Rak" is a wonderful kid, and a phenomenal student. Additionally TE is a position that Miami could use some depth at, behind Clive Walford.  But for those who saw Jimmy Graham make this transition with ease and think that it could happen again, think twice. Graham was an extraordinary athlete with an incredible work ethic.  No disrespect to Akpejori, but with no gridiron experience (he did play soccer as a youth in Nigeria) and a 6'9 frame that is not ideal for coming out of a three point stance, this is a long shot at best.  Of course I hope I am wrong and Raph scores 5-10 TDs in the red zone this year, if indeed he follows through.
