USA TODAY Sports

The 'Canes completed a huge three game sweep as they took down the Wolfpack 12-5 on Sunday behind six RBI's from Zack Collins.

Dale Carey got the game started off with a walk, Carey would steal second and advance to third on a throwing error by the Wolfpack catcher. After a Tyler Palmer walk and a Willie Abreu strikeout, up came Zack Collins.  Collins would deliver his first of six RBI's for the game by driving in Carey on a ground out putting UM on top 1-0.  The Hurricanes would score two more runs in the top of third with Collins hitting a single through the right side for his second RBI of the game scoring Tyler Palmer who had reached on a single, followed up by Brad Fieger hitting a sac fly allowing Willie Abreu to tag up from third and score for Fieger's nineteenth RBI of the season and making it 3-0 in favor of the 'Canes.  In the top of the fifth Collins would hit a home run to right center for his third RBI of the game and his fifth home run of the season making it 4-0.

Bryan Radziewski was rolling through the NC State lineup for the first four innings of the game but ran into trouble in the bottom of the fifth.  Radziewski would start the inning off with a walk to NC State left fielder Bubby Riley, then surrendered a double to right fielder Jake Armstrong that allowed Riley to score all the way from first giving NC State their first run of the game. Radziewski would give up his second walk of the inning by issuing four straight balls to designated hitter Matt Vernon putting runners on first and second for center fielder Jake Fincher.  Fincher would bunt the ball right back to Radziewski and instead of going to first, Radziewski threw to third when he had no chance of getting the runner and threw the ball away allowing Armstrong to score and advance Vernon to third making it 4-2 in favor of UM.  Radziewski would issue his third walk of the inning to pinch hitter Chance Shepard putting the bases loaded for shortstop Trea Turner.  Turner would drive in Vernon on a fielder's choice cutting the lead to 4-3 after five.  However, the Wolfpack got right back at Radziewski in the bottom of the sixth with third baseman Andrew Knizner hitting a home run to left field knotting the game up at five.  After a Bubby Riley ground out, Jake Armstrong would take Radziewski deep to left field for a home run giving the Wolfpack their fist lead of the game at 6-5.

The Hurricanes responded in the top of the seventh with Tyler Palmer reaching on a hit by pitch and Willie Abreu drawing a walk to put runners on first and second with no outs.  Zack Collins would fly out and Brad Fieger would strike out leaving it up to Johnny Ruiz.  Ruiz  would come through with a single to left field driving in Palmer for Ruiz's fourth RBI of the season and tying the game back up at 6-6.  UM reliever Cooper Hammond would come on to pitch a scoreless bottom of the seventh for the 'Canes which allowed the Hurricanes to put the game out of reach in the top of the eighth in which they scored four runs.

Garrett Kennedy got the huge inning started by getting on with a walk and reaching second on a sac bunt from Brandon Lopez.  After a Dale Carey ground out, Tyler Palmer delivered the go ahead run with a double to left center that allowed Kennedy to score.  After a Willie Abreu walk, the star of the game Zack Collins hit a three run home run to right field for his second home run of the game and sixth homer of the year.  It was also the sixth RBI of the game for Collins putting him at nineteen RBI's for the year tied for first on the team with Brad Fieger.  The Canes would tack on three more runs in the top of the ninth with a RBI double from Garrett Kennedy for his eleventh RBI of the season and a two run single for Brandon Lopez which puts him at fourteen RBI's for the year.  With the score 12-5 heading to the bottom of the ninth, Bryan Garcia would pitch his second scoreless inning of the game as the Hurricanes completed the big road sweep over North Carolina State.

With the win the 'Canes go to (17-12, 8-4 ACC) while the Wolfpack fall to (15-11 , 3-9 ACC) with the loss.
