With the 191st pick in the draft and the 15th pick in the 6th round, the Bears have selected UM Punter Pat O'Donnell.
Scouting Report: He's not your typical punter. He is also an athlete. O'Donnell was clocked in the 40 at 4.68. Not that important for a guy who won't be doing much running, but indicative of the kind of athlete who can takes his craft seriously. Oh yeah he can also bench a max of 370 pounds and does 23 reps of 225.
This past year he set the single season Miami record with an average of 47.1 yards per punt. He also showed great touch putting 17 inside the 20.
Additionally he handled Miami's kick off duties. No official stat for touchbacks in College Football is available, but O'Donnell had plenty enough leg to kick a high percentage of kickoffs out of the end zone this past year.
Having transferred from the University of Cincinnati before coming to UM this past season, he also has experience with the kind of wind we will face in Chicago.
O'Donnell is a real weapon who will help the Bears gain advantages with hidden yards.
"He looks like a SAM linebacker." - Miami Coach Al Golden on O'Donnell
Congrats Pat!!
