Update: Tonight's series opener versus UNC has been postponed for tomorrow. A doubleheader will take place. Game one starts at 3pm. Game two slated for 7:30pm at Mark Light Field.
For the first time since mid-March, 3B/1B David Thompson is back in the starting lineup at 1B, hitting eighth for the Miami Hurricanes, as they close their regular season with the first of three home games against North Carolina beginning tonight at 7:30pm on ESPN3.
Thompson, sidelined since mid-March with thoracic outlet syndrome, a condition that caused a blood clot in his right arm, was leading Miami with a .328 average in 19 games before having surgery to remove a rib on March 25.
Last season, Thompson led Miami with a .286 average, six homeruns and 46 RBI's as a freshman, earning Freshman All-America Honors by Perfect Game in 2013.
Thompson's return comes in perfect timing as the Hurricanes are about to embark on tournament season with the ACC Tournament coming up on Tuesday, May 20.
This season, Thompson is hitting an impressive .579 average in conference play and has contributed to two of Miami's game-winning hits/RBI's in matchups versus Maine and Villanova.
Welcome back "Davey Baseball" Thompson!
