After having planned to commit to a college on the 4th of July, 2016 WR Sam Bruce decided to switch his announcement date so he could do it on a local South Florida radio show.

After starting by talking about a few other topics, Bruce finally said the words that Canes fans had been waiting for:
"Through a lot of prayer and the help of my family, the school I will be attending is the University of Miami"
And, of course, following an announcement of this magnitude, Twitter erupted with reaction

Bruce, a recent transfer to St. Thomas Aquinas from University School, is an elite playmaker from the slot. He's small (5'8", 160lbs) but incredibly shifty and blessed with great hands. He's routinely seen making defenders turn the wrong way during games, and I've seen him shake DBs to the ground in 1-on-1 camp settings. It's in that role that his talents and skills make him a 4-star recruit
The added bonus to getting Bruce's commitment? He's teammates with RB target Jordan Scarlett (5'11" 210lbs). The pair played together at USchool for the past 2 years, and have both transitioned to St. Thomas Aquinas.
Bruce and Scarlett, who committed earlier tonight, and Scarlett's cousin, Rodrick Archer all unofficially visited Miami a couple weeks ago. While there, they took this picture, which, in hindsight, had a heavy dose of foreshadowing in it.

Apart from that, Bruce's commitment is the 5th in the class of 2016, and all are elite national recruits who hail from Florida. Bruce joins fellow WR Dionte Mullins, LBs Shaq Quaterman and Michael Pinckney, and the prize of the class, QB Jack Allison. Obviously, having a top QB committed to the class is a great enticement for talented receivers such as Bruce and Mullins to join in.
