A highly touted and much sought after recruit, 4-Star RB Jordan Scarlett (5'11" 210lbs) has had an eventful spring and summer. He committed to FAU, where his former HS coach is now the RB coach, and stuck with it for months. Then, he transferred from University School (Davie, FL) to National Powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas (Ft. Lauderdale, FL). Then, a day after unofficially visiting Miami, he decommitted from FAU.

After a couple of weeks of thought, Scarlett said he would announce "in the near future" in a number of interviews recently. Then yesterday, he said he would commit to a school on today, during Nike's The Opening in Oregon.

And, during that announcement, Jordan Scarlett gave his commitment to the University of Miami.

"I decided to take my talents to the University of Miami" Scarlett said. "I just chose the University of Miami because it has a great education and it's really close to home, and Al Golden and staff are really going far with the team."

When asked what it was about Miami, and potentially teaming up with other elite players, Scarlett's answer was something that should make Canes fans very excited.

"Me, Dexter (Williams), Mark Walton, and Jordan Cronkrite are some 2015 backs, and hopefully we go in and take the University of Miami over and lead it to a National Championship."

When asked if he would take other visits, Scarlett said "No. It's all about the U. It's just Miami. And I love it!"

This great news for Miami fans obviously set the Twitterverse on fire.

Scarlett's commitment could portend good things for Miami. Apart from his amazing talent, which led to him being named the best RB at The Opening after Day 1, Scarlett's commitment to Miami could lead his teammate, 2016 WR Sam Bruce, to commit at his scheduled announcement later tonight. I guess we'll have to wait and see on that point.

Scarlett is the 20th commitment to the 2015 recruiting class, and the 4th RB in the group. You should read SBNation National Recruiting Analyst Bud Elliott's scouting report on Scarlett. You'll like what you read.
