Welcome to the U, Jaquan Johnson

After taking his time to make his decision, Miami Killian 4-star S Jaquan Johnson selected the hometown Hurricanes as his collegiate destination

A quiet Tuesday evening on twitter quickly turned into something memorable for Canes fans with 2 tweets:

First this:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-partner="tweetdeck"><p><a href="http://t.co/gxwIHilFML">pic.twitter.com/gxwIHilFML</a></p>&mdash; Al Golden (@GoldenAl) <a href="https://twitter.com/GoldenAl/statuses/501891937449050112">August 20, 2014</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Then this:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-partner="tweetdeck"><p>2015 Killian Safety JaQuan Johnson has committed to Miami <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Canes?src=hash">#Canes</a></p>&mdash; Peter Ariz (@PeterAriz) <a href="https://twitter.com/PeterAriz/statuses/501893633898196993">August 20, 2014</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

And, with that, one of, if not THE top target in this class for the Hurricanes came on board. And, Al Golden wasn't the only coach excited:

Many have been pining for Jaquan Johnson since his sophomore year of high school. He's a local legend in South Florida, and already a 3 time All-Dade County selection (a rare occurrence, believe me). He is a versatile athlete, an incredible leader, and figures to be one of the cornerstone players of this class.

In recent weeks, Johnson had been heavily linked with both Florida and Florida State. Those reports were unsettling to the Miami fan base, but, in the end, he decided to commit to the Canes.

Johnson is a 4-star Safety with great skills. While he won't wow you with his athleticism and testing numbers, he has incredible instincts and impeccable technique, and finds ways to make plays. He's the stereotypical "football player". And, without a doubt, he's someone you want on your team.

Johnson is the first DB committed in the class of 2015, and hopefully his commitment will aid in the Canes getting one of his good friends: ATH/DB Tim Irvin. Time will tell on that front, however.

Wanna see what kind of player Miami is getting? Johnson's highlights and All-Dade photo are below.

And, we end by saying...

WELCOME TO THE U, JAQUAN!!!!
