Audio Folder #2: Al Golden, James Coley and Players Speak to Media

Golden talks Olsen, Coley talks trick plays, Chickillo and Perryman talk bodyslams

Mike Ehrmann

On Monday morning Hurricanes Nation woke up to the news of Kevin Olsen being arrested on charges of DUI and holding multiple fake ID's.

On hearing the news, Athletic Director Blake James was the first to encounter the media and announced that Olsen would be suspended from all team activities until further review of the situation is taken.

Following James, Head Coach Al Golden was next in line to be bombarded by Olsen questions. Below are the questions that Golden was asked and underneath are his audio responses.

(During the pauses, read the next question to avoid confusion)

0:00: Were you disappointed in Olsen?

0:20: Were you shocked about the news?

0:40: You know you'll be dealing with this kind of stuff with kids this age. How do you prepare?

1:00: How do you not let this be a distraction? (Golden puts an end to Olsen questions)

1:22: What does Ryan Williams have to do to show you he can play this week?

Offensive Coordinator James Coley was next up; however, Kevin Olsen questions were luckily put to bed. Coley was asked about the deep ball, trick plays, Brad Kaaya's improvement and more.

Below are the questions that Coley was asked and underneath are his audio responses.

(During the pauses, read the next question to avoid confusion)

0:00: Were you surprised that the deep ball was able to click so fast against Ark St.?

0:24: Did you come into the game knowing you'd do some trick plays or was it something you saw in the defense?

0:55: Are you going to continue to attempt the Phillip Dorsett trick pass?

1:12: Talk a little about how good Braxton Berrios is on third down

Anthony Chickillo and Denzel Perryman later came out for the media. Perryman insisted on having a joint interview with Chickillo...so that is exactly what we did.

Below are the questions that Chick and DP were asked and underneath are their audio responses.

(During the pauses, read the next question to avoid confusion)

0:00: Before starting, Perryman was having a little fun with Phillip Dorsett who was being interviewed with cameras about six feet away.

0:09: Chickillo: Denzel said he laughed a bit after the Kamalu body slam. Did you laugh?

0:32: Perryman: Big hits seemed to be the trend during the Ark St. game, especially from Deon Bush, talk about that.

1:05: Perryman: Jamal Carter missed some big tackles, did you talk to him about it?

1:20: Perryman: How good is it to see Thurston Armbrister and Dallas Crawford playing at a high level?

(FUNNY) 1:58: Chickillo: Who's the funniest guy on the defense? What about the most serious?

*****SIDE NOTES*****

- D'Onofrio said he was very disappointed with Kamalu's body slam because it cost the team 30 yards.

"You can't have foolish penalties on defense. Two years ago we had 31 penalties on defense, that was crazy. Last year we had 10 and I take pride in that"

- James Coley fully expects Kaaya to start against Nebraska.
