Highlights/Final Thoughts: Notre Dame 75 Miami 70

The 'Canes played very well for 27 minutes, then the floodgates opened.

Final Thoughts:

Regardless of how the season ends up, this is one that feels like it shouldn't have slipped away.  Miami held a 12 point second half lead, but were doomed by some ridiculous shot making by the Irish and a few breaks that went the other way (3 calls stick out).  Angel Rodriguez has an off night (1-10 from the floor) and when that happens, the Hurricanes are usually sunk. JaQuan Newton's play was really promising though, and despite the loss UM is 2-2 in ACC play having already arguably faced 3 of the top 5 teams in the conference (Notre Dame, Duke, and Virginia). Ivan Cruz Uceda's debut was pretty uneventful, but the 'Canes now have their full compliment of players.  The rest of the season remains promising.

Additional Notes (Courtesy UM):

-Redshirt junior guard Sheldon McClellan scored in double figures as he finished with a team-high 17 points. McClellan has scored in double figures in 14 straight games. He has scored in double figures in 15 games this season.

-Freshman guard Ja’Quan Newton had career-highs in points (16) and assists (five). He also tied a career-high with two rebounds.

-Freshman JamesPalmer finished the game with an ACC season-best 11 points as he went a perfect 3-of-3 from the field. He finished just one point shy of his season-high of 12.

-Junior center Tonye Jekiri finished the game with a game-high 13 rebounds.

-Jekiri has pulled down 10-or-more rebounds in each of his last four games and five of the last six games.

-Sophomore guard Davon Reed tied a season-high with four assists.
