Beating Duke and Virginia felt good the past two weeks.
But I think we all knew this UNC team was something different and potentially special.
Unfortunately for Miami fans the story of the 2015 season will have to be about the coaching search, as UM was not up to the task of playing any legit team with aspirations of conference supremacy (again).
Not even close. Just a pathetic effort across the board. Humiliating.
The particulars below:
The Good:
- Because sometimes things are bigger than the game.
.@CanesFootball @TarHeelFootball fans just stood in moment of silence for those killed in France. pic.twitter.com/LE76ZoIEpj

-
Artie Burns all over the field. How good has this kid been all season? I don't care how many BS penalties were called against him through out.
Artie Burns has returned. PBU on 3rd&9 gives Miami the ball again.

- Nice to see freshman Lawrence Cager get a TD. Great catch.
The Bad:
- This!! Led to a first down. Sloppy.
*sigh* Illegal substitution on Miami. 12 men in formation. 3rd and 6 now 3rd and 1 for UNC

- Miami has momentum going, but an injury to Joe Yearby and a bad snap by Nick Linder stunted everything. Execution is everything in big games. UM's early mistakes were costly.
- This D is just so bad...
Handoff to Hood. walks in untouched. TD UNC. So0o0o0o0oo0o0o easy

- Worst throw perhaps ever I have seen from Kaaya. Stared down Njoku and the result is "predictable."
That's on Kaaya. Horrible throw. Horrible decision. Horrible b

- When it rains it pours.
Michael Badgley misses a 32-yarder with 3:50 left in the half. Miami, down 24-0, is awarded no #points.
— Matt Porter (@mattyports) November 14, 2015
- I mean this was Clemson all over again, in so many more ways than one.
That hit on Kaaya...the way his head just snapped. It's hard to watch in slow motion. Or any motion, actually.

- This too.
UM, down 45-0, being outscored 103-0 by teams likely in ACC title game. Delaware& NC A&T played UNC closer.Wofford played Clemson closer.
— Barry Jackson (@flasportsbuzz) November 14, 2015
- Just a total awful effort. Coming off the Clemson loss, you'd have expected at least a competitive effort.
The Ugly:
Not that it mattered... but did we expect fair officiating?? Give me a break. I mean it was beyond one-sided. Will the Big East take the 'Canes back?
Anyone see Marquise Williams throw up U & then turn it upside down after TD? Who thinks @CanesFootball would have gotten flag for similar?
— Susan Miller Degnan (@smillerdegnan) November 14, 2015
ACC refs all need to be fired. They are against Miami and do not call a fair game. Watch the game before you disagree. #RightisRight

Big catch by Coley, who earns a taunting call. Look: if that's a penalty, Williams' "throw up the U, turn it down" is too. Be fair.

Team Grades -
Offense:
Anyone else see the 2nd down run after the 1st down INC coming from a mile away? Predictable, predictable, predictable!
The O line did not show much if any progress.
Defense:
Calvin Heurtelou has an early sack. But this unit still struggles to tackle or defend the perimeter. Just awful overall.
Special Teams:
- You give up a TD to Switzer knowing how good he is. Par for the course.
Coaching:
Illegal formation wipes away a first down and early momentum. Followed up by kick catch interference, Penalties hurt the 'Canes on offense, defense, and special teams in the 1st Q. This teams needs more discipline and coaching is where it needs to start.
VERY Predictable play calls on O as well.
Another big game flop.
I know UNC is good, but they aren't this good. I like Larry Scott but this was a piss poor effort.
