On Sunday night during Canes Hoops' game vs Butler in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off, Interim Football Coach Larry Scott took to twitter.

The player who committed? Homestead South Dade RB Jawon Hamilton.

Hamilton, who was previously committed to FIU before decommitting a couple of weeks ago, is a talented player who hails from the same school that produced current Canes WR Tyre Brady. Having rushed for nearly 1200 yards and 16 touchdowns as a senior, the 5'9" 190lb Hamilton has been a productive player at the HS level and has skills that project well for the collegiate level as well.

Obviously, without a head coach in place, this commitment seems to come at a weird time. But, it also shows that Hamilton, who has previously stated that Miami is his "dream school" and he's loved the Canes since he was little, is committed to the school and the program, not to the coach.

Hamilton is the 17th commit in the 2016 class. He joins Travis Homer at the running back position in this class. You can see Hamilton's HUDL highlights below:
