During the last week, there were plenty of bowl projections and predictions. For Miami, nearly all of them had the Canes heading back to El Paso, TX for the Sun Bowl. Sunday afternoon, those predictions and projections became reality.

Bowl games have an opponent, obviously, and for the Sun Bowl, the Canes will be playing a Pac-12 team, with Washington State as the opponent.

The Sun Bowl will be played on December 26th at 2:00pm Eastern.
The last time Miami was in the Sun Bowl? The last time we had a new coach, in 2010 when we played USC Notre Dame.
The initial reaction from Canes players was about what you'd expect: not positive.

My thoughts?
#Canes officially going to the Sun Bowl. Hope the 12 of y'all who make that trip enjoy it.

So yeah. Miami got placed in the absolute worst tier 1 bowl possible for an ACC team. And, after spending LAST Christmas in Shreveport, LA, that makes 2 years in a row this team (and the athletic staff and beat writers) have to spend the holidays in a wretched location.
But hey, it's better than not having a bowl game, right? RIGHT?!
*sigh*
More on this matchup soon.
