Fredrick Johnson picks UF
Long thought to be a lean towards Miami, Royal Palm Beach OT Fredrick Johnson committed to Florida on an official visit to Gainesville on Saturday.

Johnson's choice comes down to 1 thing in my mind: Miami already has 6 commits on the Offensive Line, while Florida had 11 commits for their entire class coming into the weekend.
The packed class with all committed players having played Tackle, Johnson's position, in High School, along with multiple returning players on the roster, made for a tough path to playing time for Johnson. So, instead, he committed to UF, where he could very well play an integral role on their OL this upcoming season.
Yeah, this is a "loss" since we were going head to head and leading for a while, but this is far from crippling. Like I said, we have 6 OL commits. We'll be alright.
Jordan Scarlett uncertain?
Sometimes, rumors this close to National Signing Day are planted by opposing schools to create drama (think the Chad Thomas stuff from last year). Sometimes, they're internet jokes. And, sometimes, they're indicative that something is actually up.
Over the course of these last 3 weeks, I've repeatedly said that RB commit Jordan Scarlett's recruitment was the thing I was most closely watching. And in the past few days, there's been A LOT of chatter that Scarlett is in play for multiple schools. The schools mentioned: UF and FSU.

After losing 4-star RB commit Johnny Frasier, who flipped to local NC State, FSU is doing everything they can to flip Scarlett. With a spot open in their class now, this last weekend visit, hosted by Dalvin Cook, could be impactful. Scarlett said he was unimpressed by his visit to Gainesville last week, but that may be changing. UF coaches visited Scarlett at his HS last week.
Again, this is the singular thing I'm most closely watching.
8:35AM update
So, I wrote this last night, but have to update it and post it before it's scheduled time.
Jordan Scarlett just decommitted via twitter

Oh boy.
Dexter Williams back?
There has been much chatter that Miami is making a move to regain the commitment of West Orange RB Dexter Williams. Once a Canes commit, Williams is a dynamic athlete who has been highly pursued by several other schools since decommitting from Miami.
Notre Dame is currently thought to be the leader for the 6'0 192lb speedster, but Miami could make a late push here. In light of the above mentioned developments with Jordan Scarlett, this renewed connection with Williams has even more meaning and potential impact.
Stay tuned.
LB Kevin Henry on an Official Visit
A last minute addition to this Official Visit weekend, Baton Rouge Central LB/S Kevin Henry is on campus in Coral Gables. Henry, a teammate of WR commit Terrell Chatman, is an interesting hybrid athlete who could play either S or LB at the next level.
An Oklahoma State commit, Henry had heavy Canes interest over the summer. So, this isn't an out-of-the-blue connection. And, if you add in the fact that he's Chatman's teammate, this visit could go a long way to keeping the talented WR in this class as well.

Gardena Serra HS: USC pipeline
We just talked about this with the joint announcement from John Houston and Rasheem Green that the pair would not be coming to Miami.
I've said that people in recruiting circles call the HS "USCerra" because all their top players go there. Serra alum Adoree Jackson was a star as a true Freshman.
This isn't a secret. Everybody knows it. And, for good measure, here's a short, clean, simple tweet from Rival's USC site InsideTroy that puts it in the most accurate way possible.

I believe all the players in that picture either had USC offers prior to this event, or received them at the event.
So yeah. It's ALWAYS going to be tough to pull kids from Serra.
