Miami Baseball Rolls to Huge Win over Florida, 7-2

'Canes look to win the series tomorrow at 1 PM.

Lefty starter Thomas Woodrey was sharp all night, All-American sophomore Zack Collins hit a three run homer in the 4th, and the # 12  University of  Miami Hurricanes (5-2) evened up their three game set in Gainesville with a 7-2 win over the #5 Florida Gators (4-1).

Woodrey (2-0), who is fighting for a permanent spot in the rotation, had his second consecutive effective start.

Derik Beauprez, who is also looking for one of the weekend starter spots, came on in relief to finish things up.

Collins' monster blast to right center (his first of the year) was more than enough offense for the junior from Cardinal Gibbons HS who scattered 2 runs over 6 2/3 innings.

UM also flashed some serious leather, in particular CF Ricky Eusebio.

Eusebio had two fantastic plays, one resulting in a tide turning double play, and the other robbing Richie Martin in the 6th of a sure extra base hit.

Carl Chester and Eusebio continued their hot starts to their Hurricanes careers with  each getting on base twice ad scoring runs.

The 'Canes lost the opener of the three game set last night, losing 4-3 on a walk off single by UF CF Buddy Reed.

The teams complete the series tomorrow  at 1 PM with Miami RHP Enrique Sosa facing  Florida (TBD) in the rubber match.
