Yes! It's official: I have verbally committed to the University of Miami #Canes @Rivals @BleacherReport @SFHSSports pic.twitter.com/CkhJZ6tlXY
— Robert Burns (@RobertBurns_) February 23, 2015
2017 RB Robert Burns, an elite player from Miami Gulliver Prep, is the latest player to give his verbal to Al Golden's Hurricanes. Baez is also a key figure in this commitment, as he used to coach Burns and several other commits (S Cedric Wright, WR Dionte Mullins, and DE Joseph Jackson) at Gulliver Prep.
Burns is an ELITE talent. He was one of the highest scoring player at last year's Nike combine and NFTC in Miami, and that was as a HS freshman. His SPARQ rating of 118.26 was good for 54th in the country last year. It was higher than several highly rated senior recruits, including 4-star RB Dexter Williams, 4-star WR Christian Kirk, and 5-star S Derwin James, among many others.
Burns' play will continue to improve as he physically matures. But make no mistake about this: Burns is absolutely a 5-star player and this commitment, while far from his NSD in 2017, is HUGE. Huge, I tell you.
Burns joins QB Todd Centeio, RB Bentavious Thompson, and LB Tyler Dunning as commits in the 2017 class.
Want to see why I'm so effusive over Burns' skills? Take a gander at his HUDL highlights.
