For the second time this week, UM's football team lost a member of it's coaching staff to the NFL.
First defensive line coach Jethro Franklin joined the Raiders staff, now WR's coach and National Recruiting Coordinator Brennan Caroll has bolted.
Full release from UM:
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami announced today that Wide Receivers Coach/National Recruiting Coordinator Brennan Carroll has a accepted a position with the National Football League’s (NFL) Seattle Seahawks.
“Coaching at the professional level has been a life-long dream of mine,” Carroll said. "I am proud of what our players were able to accomplish in my four years here at the University of Miami. I would like to thank coach (Al) Golden for the wonderful opportunity he provided my family and me. I know the future is bright for the Hurricanes!”
Carroll will join his father Pete’s staff as the team’s offensive assistant.
“This is such a wonderful opportunity for Brennan and his family to be reunited with his brother and father in Seattle,” said head coach Al Golden. “I know it has been a goal of Brennan's to enter the NFL and to do so with his father and the Seahawks make this all the more special. We wish Brennan, Amber and their children nothing but the best and we sincerely thank them for what they have brought to Miami over the last four years.”
Carroll spent the past four seasons with the Hurricanes, serving the last two years as the squad’s wide receivers coach and his first two seasons as the team’s tight ends coach.
But unlike the D line position, Miami quickly found a replacement for Caroll in Kevin Beard.
Beard played with the 2001 National Championship team and has been serving as UM's assistant director of football operations.

What will effect will this have on recruiting?
What effect will it have on Miami's young WR corps?
Can Beard get the most out of Stacy Coley?
Time will tell.
But for now congrats to Beard on the opportunity/promotion. We also have to wonder if he will continue Caroll's now infamous "Welcome to the U" tweets when a new recruit gives a verbal commit, also affectionately known as the "bat signal."
Or perhaps he will do his own thing.
Much more on this development as we learn it.
