Miami' Basketball's ACC Tournament Opponent: Virginia Tech

Can the 'Canes make it three for three Vs the Hokies?

Robert Mayer-USA TODAY Sports

Well UM now has a dance partner for the second round of the ACC Tournament.

The Virginia Tech Hokies stunned the higher seeded Wake Forest Deamon Deacons, 81-80, behind 32 huge points from freshman Jalen Hudson, and thus draw the Hurricanes in the second round.

The game will take place tomorrow night at 9PM and be televised on ESPN2.

ICYMI: UM twice defeated VT in the regular season, 76-52 at the BUC on 2/16 & 82-61 this past weekend in Blacksburg.

The additional good news for Miami?

The Wake/VT game was a high level, high intensity, and fast paced contest.

So fatigue could be at minimum a small factor tomorrow night when the 'Canes face the Hokies.

Additionally, with two blow out wins over Virginia Tech already on their resume, the Hurricanes should be confident headed into this one.

But you never know.

UM will need to avoid overconfidence as well as be sure not to come out tight.

A loss tomorrow would essentially end all NCAA Tournament hopes.

However they likely come out strong in this one.  Miami is just a bad match-up for the guard heavy Hokies.

Coach L's squad boasts a bevvy of talented back court options of their own, even if Angel Rodriguez (questionable) can not go.   And they also have the game's best big, in Tonye Jekiri.
