Another ProCane joins the NFL: WR Phillip Dorsett selected 29th by the Colts

After years of not having a 1st rounder, Miami has 2 so far, with Phillip Dorsett being the latest, picked 29th by the Indianapolis Colts.

Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

Speed Merchant Philip Dorsett was one of the fastest risers in the NFL Draft process. After running the 40 yard dash in 4.33 seconds at the NFL combine and 4.27 seconds at the University of Miami Pro Day, many teams were said to be interested in acquiring this speedy and talented player.

Dorsett did very well throughout the whole draft process. He interviewed well, tested well at both the Combine and the UM Pro Day, and as the process wore on, there seemed to be more and more chatter about Dorsett rising, even possibly into the first round.

All that chatter was proven to be true when the Indianapolis Colts selected Dorsett with the 29th overall pick. Dorsett is a dynamic player, who has to be accounted for on every play. He's a threat to score every time he catches the ball, and adds a multi-dimensional weapon to the Colt's offense.

Dorsett's speed is his biggest asset, but it is far from his only skill. He can catch the ball well, and runs good routes. Put all that together, and it's easy to see why he was the National Leader in yards per catch at 24.2.

And, on top of that, Dorsett is yet another Hurricane for Andrew Luck to work with on offense, joining Andre Johnson and Frank Gore on the revamped Colts offense. Dorsett joins fellow Hurricane Ereck Flowers, who was selected 9th overall by the New York Giants, as a first round pick.

Welcome to the NFL, Philip!
