Welcome to the NFL: Denzel Perryman picked 48th by the Chargers

Said to be the Hardest Hitter in the Draft, Hurricanes LB Denzel Perryman is headed to San Diego after being picked by the Chargers.

Robert Mayer-USA TODAY Sports

Widely discussed as the hardest hitter in the 2015 NFL Draft, LB Denzel Perryman will take his anger, aggression, and bone rattling hits to San Diego after being drafted 48th Overall by the Chargers.

Perryman was the heart and soul of the Hurricanes' defense, and will surely bring that same level of passion and play with him as he transitions to the NFL game.

Perryman follows in the footsteps of 2 LBs from The U who have had great NFL careers: Jonathan Vilma (who, like Perryman, attended Coral Gables Senior High School) and Jon Beason (who, like Perryman, wore #52 while starring for the Hurricanes). Both Vilma and Beason have been to multiple pro-bowls, and Beason is a 2-time All-Pro. Perryman could easily match those accolades in his NFL career.

Perryman will add run-stopping ability and a non-stop motor to the Chargers' defense. While he's not the greatest player in pass coverage, he figures to play a significant role right away.

Welcome to the NFL, Denzel!
