Can the Hurricanes overcome the Gators to keep their national title hopes alive?

The Hurricanes square off with the Florida Gators yet again. This time, however, in an elimination game. This marks the fifth time both sides have met this season, with Florida holding a 1-3 advantage.

Heyward Leads UM to Victory, Eliminates Arkansas

While Miami's celebrating the clutch performance of Jacob Heyward in their 4-3 victory over the Arkansas Razorbacks, the Gators return from a scoreless outing against the Virginia Cavaliers on Tuesday. Florida only mustered two hits in their 1-0 loss to the Wahoos.

If the Hurricanes come away victorious tonight, they must face Virginia twice to reach the championship series. In that event, Miami would challenge the Cavaliers on Friday, with elimination looming over the Canes, then again on Saturday to win their bracket.

No team has come from the loser's bracket and won a national title since Wichita State in 1989, illustrating the difficulty of Miami's position in the College World Series.

Correction: Oregon State in 2006 and South Carolina in 2010 won national titles after battling through the loser's bracket.
