Miami Football 2015 Player Profile: Trent Harris

In an effort to keep even the most hardcore Miami fan up to date on their favorite players, SOTU will be running a Player Profile series. In these posts, our writers will profile players from each position that they think should get more face time. They will recap their previous year, or in some cases, preview what may be to come. That way, when the season get's here, you hopefully will have a new found love for the team on the field.

Trent Harris

Sophomore - DE - 6'2 245 - Winter Park, Fl

Appeared in 12 contests, recording 15 tackles and 1 TFL as a true freshman in 2014.

Chose Miami over offers from Alabama, Florida, Florida State, among others.

Came to college with an explosive first step, polished spin move, and a very good motor.

Recorded an incredible 39 tackles for loss as a H.S. senior.

In limited action last season, did not appear overwhelmed and held the point of attack effectively, however did not display much in the way of disrupting the opposing offense.

Did enough to see time with the starters though.

Summary: Harris is an intriguing prospect.  Clearly he is talented enough to get on the field, and with added bulk and experience he can be a front line type player.  But who does he take snaps from?  Al-Quadin Muhammad? Chad Thomas?  Tyriq McCord at LB?  If nothing else he is a very nice luxury to have as UM is very deep on the defensive front edge.  If only the interior defensive line had so many studs....I wouldn't be shocked to see Harris find on the field a few series every game.  30-35 tackles, 2-3 sacks, and a few TFLs would seem within his grasp. If anyone gets hurt and his snaps increase, he could do a lot more than that.

Stay tuned for more player profiles from SOTU as we count down to kick off.
