Miami Football 2015 Player Profile: Trayone Gray

In an effort to keep even the most hardcore Miami fan up to date on their favorite players, SOTU will be running a Player Profile series. In these posts, our writers will profile players from each position that they think should get more face time. They will recap their previous year, or in some cases, preview what may be to come. That way, when the season get's here, you hopefully will have a new found love for the team on the field.

Trayone Gray

Sophomore - RB - 6'2 197 - Carol City H.S.

Ran the ball just 6 times for 24 yards and 1 TD last season.

Has excellent speed and good size.  There were some whispers he could switch to WR.

But for now has a chance to earn some carries as a RB (or wildcat QB),  if he can avoid any further time missed this summer:

Summary: Count me among those who are confused as to why Gray was not redshirted last season.  Perhaps the cup of coffee he received on the playing field will help him in 2015 in an expanded role?  Wildcat snaps seem like a real possibility (though first team RB Duke Johnson filled that role last season and one would think Joe Yearby/Mark Walton would get first crack).  He would also seem a logical candidate for ST and the favorite for 4th team TB.  Can he get enough snaps to really make a mark though?  For now Gray seems like a very talented depth player, still refining his role on the team.

Stay tuned for more player profiles from SOTU as we count down to kick off.
