Miami Football 2015 Player Profile: Chris Herndon IV

In an effort to keep even the most hardcore Miami fan up to date on their favorite players, SOTU will be running a Player Profile series. In these posts, our writers will profile players from each position that they think should get more face time. They will recap their previous year, or in some cases, preview what may be to come. That way, when the season get's here, you hopefully will have a new found love for the team on the field.

Chris Herndon IV

Sophomore - TE - 6'4 255 - Norcross, Ga

Herndon saw action in 3 games last year, but did not record any catches.

Talented player was also recruited by Auburn and Mississippi State coming out of H.S.

Made some strides this spring, and could compete for a starting position.

Summary: I am really shocked that UM did not RS this kid last year. While talented, clearly he needs development. Seems like a natural pass receiver but more as a slot or H back than inline. Also is behind Stan Dobard in terms of blocking, and isn't quite as physically imposing as JUCO transfer Jerome Washington, so has some catching up to do. At this stage of the game coming into fall camp would appear to be neck and neck with David Njoku for the #3 TE spot.  If he can get on the field, could be a decent target, but for now is working uphill/provides depth at a very deep position.

Stay tuned for more player profiles from SOTU as we count down to kick off.
